Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements and contributions of the African American and Black communities—a time (though not the only time!) for emphasizing the central role of this varied community throughout U.S. history. Also known as African American History Month, the event grew out of “Negro History Week,” the brainchild of noted historian Carter G. Woodson and other prominent African Americans.

The KR’s Kids Fit patch program was developed by Kailee Robinson, a Girl Scout from the City of Chicago. One of Kailee’s passions is educating other kids about physical fitness in the most fun and exciting ways possible. Through this patch program, Kailee hopes that more young people will feel confidant in participating in everyday fitness and implementing daily movement and exercise into their lives. This patch program is in accordance with the requirements for Kailee to complete her Girl Scout Bronze Award.
