Welcome to our resource page for Service Unit Teams! This page is intended for the amazing, dedicated individuals who volunteer for the benefit of a designated geographic area (or service unit) within the Council. These individuals include Service Unit Managers (or SUMs), treasurers, registrars, communication managers, event managers, and more. We appreciate you so much!
The purpose of a service unit (SU) is to encourage, support, and organize local Girl Scout troops by providing leadership and resources to Girl Scout members, including girls, leaders, and volunteers, as well as parents and caregivers. The Service Unit team engages their local community to promote the overall mission of the Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana.
The SU represents Girl Scouts in the community - ensuring the health and welfare of local Girl Scouting.
The SU provides peer support and training opportunities for leaders and assistant leaders.
The SU provides a resource for local community cultivation and recruitment opportunities.
The SU supports council-led efforts like product program and annual registration renewal.
The SU provides “beyond the troop activities” like Camporees, multi-troop bridging ceremonies, and more.
