Improved Firewood Boxes
Silver Award Project by Ana B.
About: My Silver Award Project idea was to design and build six new firewood boxes that would hold all of the materials needed for a successful campfire. The boxes are to hold the fuel, tinder, kindling, water buckets, rakes and shovels. It has a protective waterproof canvas to cover the exposed front from the elements.
My project is sustainable because I created a permanent solution that can be used at camp forever. I also educated and inspired others in the community or within Girl Scouts to be part of the change.
I have also attended two weeks of resident camp where I have experienced the joy of the new boxes.
What skills did you gain and how will these skills help you in the future?
I learned how to budget for materials. I also learned safety skills around power tools. My grandfather taught me how to properly use a drill and saw. This will help me in the future if I decide to do a project with wood and metal.
