The Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico, in particular the Central and South regions, and by people of Mexican ancestry living in other places, especially the United States. It is acknowledged internationally in many other cultures.
The multi-day holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and help support their spiritual journey.
Join us as we celebrate one of the oldest traditions in Mexico that dates back to the Aztec period. Girls are invited to paint sugar skulls, make their own papel picado (paper banner), view Ofrendas (Altars), and have their faces painted like a Catrina.

Celebrate this global sisterhood by cooking meals from where the WAGGGS World Centres are located: Mexico, Switzerland, Africa, England, and India. After we cook, we will eat the food that all of the cooking sessions have made. During this program, you will work toward your Cook badges (Snacks, Simple Meals, New Cuisines, and Dinner Party).
