Attend a Girl Scouts GCNWI Spark Day to explore different career paths, some of which you may have never thought of!

Throughout the school year, take advantage of your school holidays by interacting with professionals in the fields you are interested in, meet mentors, and participate in hands-on activities related to those jobs.

The Faces of Bravery with Motorola Solutions: Women in Public Safety Career Exploration Day

Motorola Innovation Center, Chicago, IL
Ages: Cadettes and Juniors (Grades 4 – 8)

Have you ever wanted to learn more about what it takes to be a female firefighter, police officer, or emergency responder? Girl Scout Cadettes and Juniors (Grades 4 – 8) are invited to join GSGCNWI for a Public Safety Career Exploration Day: The Faces of Bravery with Motorola Solutions.

Motorola Solutions provides critical services, software, and technology for the women and men in the public safety sector who keep our communities safe.

At this event, you will meet female firefighters, police officers, and emergency responders, and learn first-hand knowledge about each of these careers through fun, interactive activities! Plus, you’ll receive a fun patch!


Just How Does a Company Create a New Product? Career Exploration Day at PepsiCo

PepsiCo Research and Development Center, Barrington, IL
Ages: Cadettes (Grades 6-8)

Pop Quiz Time!

QUESTION: What do Pepsi, Lay’s Potato Chips, Cap’n Crunch, Gatorade, Doritos, and Cheetos have in common?

ANSWER: They’re all developed by PepsiCo using Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM)!

Girl Scout Cadettes (Grades 6-8) are invited to join GSGCNWI at PepsiCo’s Research and Development Center for a Career Exploration Day! You’ll see first-hand how education in STEAM can lead to a variety of careers.

During this day you’ll get to meet the PepsiCo product developers themselves and learn all the steps it takes for a company to develop many of the tasty foods found at your local supermarket. Then you’ll even get to create your own new product!


INTREN STEAM Career Exploration Day in Energy

INTREN Offices, Franklin Park, IL
Ages: Juniors and Cadettes (Grades 4-8)

The energy industry is a fast-growing field, and women are joining the ranks more and more! Girl Scout Juniors and Cadettes (Grades 4-8) are invited to join GCNWI for a Career Exploration Day with INTREN, a leader in design and construction to support the electricity and gas industries.

At this event, you’ll learn how Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) play a role in energy careers. Plus, you will:

  • Meet women who are changing the energy industry and taking the lead;
  • Get hands-on experience building your own electrical circuit;
  • Get up close and personal with the technology that goes into construction equipment;
  • Learn about the varied careers available in the field, like Human Resources and Marketing;
  • Plus receive a fun patch!
