Return and Exchange PROCEDURE - Effective April 1, 2014

RETURN OR EXCHANGE PURCHASES IN-STORE:

Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana accepts in-store returns for Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana merchandise purchased both in-store and online. Visit our Store Locator to find a store near you. 

Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana will accept your return or exchange of unworn, unwashed, unaltered merchandise within 60 days of the original purchase. Merchandise may be returned or exchanged at any Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana store location.

WITH AN ORIGINAL RECEIPT OR PACKING SLIP:

We will gladly accept exchanges of equal or greater value under the following specified terms. With a receipt, we will accept a return within 60 days of the original purchase and honor the return in the like manner that the merchandise was purchased. [Note: Purchases made with a check may be returned after 10 days from the original purchase date and will be handled as noted below for returns with or without an original receipt or packing slip. Merchandise may be exchanged before the end of the 10-day waiting period.] We reserve the right to refuse a return if we deem the receipt provided is not satisfactory proof of purchase.

WITHOUT AN ORIGINAL RECEIPT OR PACKING SLIP:

We will accept a return within 60 days of the original purchase and we will issue a merchandise exchange for the current selling price at the time of the return. 

Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana Outlet stores may only accept returns of purchases made at Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana Outlet store. Purchases from outlet locations may not be returned to Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana stores or by mail. 

Please note that Final Sale merchandise is not eligible for return or exchange. Any shipping and handling fees are non-refundable. Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana reserves the right to change this Returns and Exchanges Policy at any time. 

Washed or worn merchandise cannot be returned or exchanged unless defective. Items must have tag attached and intact for refund or exchange.

RETURN OR EXCHANGE ONLINE PURCHASES BY MAIL:

Purchases made online may be returned or exchanged by mail following the instructions listed below and on the bottom of the packing slip included with your order. Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana will accept your return or exchange of unworn, unwashed, unaltered merchandise within 60 days of the original purchase. Please allow up to 2 weeks to receive your return credit and up to 2 weeks to receive your exchange. Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana is not responsible for customer returns that are not received.

Please note, the exchange process is executed in two steps: 
  • First, your return is accepted and refunded to your credit card. You will receive an Exchange Confirmation email when we receive the item(s). 
  •  Next, a new order is placed for your exchange item(s) and charged to your credit card on file (with any discounts or promotions from your initial order remaining intact). You will receive a Shipping Confirmation email when your new item(s) is on its way. Unfortunately, item availability cannot be guaranteed.

GIRL SCOUTS OF GREATER CHICAGO AND NORTHWEST INDIANA’S RAPID EXCHANGE SERVICE:

If the item you purchased isn't quite right and you need a replacement as soon as possible, we'll save you time with our Rapid Exchange Service. Simply call us at 1-312-912-6366 and we'll immediately place an exchange order for you, charging your preferred credit card. We will also waive the shipping fee when we send you the new item. Once we receive your return, we will credit your account. 

Note: Return shipping will be deducted from your refund or charged to the credit card on file. For even exchanges, there is no return shipping charge. 

USE ANOTHER SHIPPING METHOD: Complete the return and exchange form on the packing slip, repack the merchandise in the original packaging, and enclose the completed form. Mail the package to the following address:

Packages must be returned pre-paid using an insured shipping method. Sorry, we cannot accept COD deliveries.

PRICE ADJUSTMENTS:

Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana store locations and online do not offer price adjustments at this time.

PRE-AUTHORIZATIONS & OVERCHARGES:

Pre-Authorizations: A pre-authorization is a type of pending bank charge used to check an account for validity or approve funding for a purchase you attempt to make. A merchant may pre-authorize an amount before you make a purchase (such as a shopgirlscouts.org order), then submit a final charge later (such as when your shopgirlscouts.org order ships to you). That final charge amount will be on your receipt. 

Another type of pre-authorization charge is for a purchase that was approved but that won't be posted to your account until later (such as for an item that does not ship right away because it's on backorder). Keep in mind, a charge may be pending for a few days, which essentially holds the pending funds for the intended purchase but does not charge them permanently. Once the permanent charge is posted, the pre-authorization charge will "fall off" your account. (This can take up to 3-5 days.) Contact your banking institution if this does not occur. 

Overcharges: If you are overcharged for an item, notify an associate in-store or call Customer Service and you will immediately be refunded the difference between the advertised price and the overcharge.

Check Acceptance PROCEDURE

  • Girls of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana reserve the right to refuse or accept any check. 
  • A state issued Driver’s License, state issued ID card, or US Passport must be shown upon request.
  • Information on the check must be preprinted by a financial institution and have a valid check number. It must include the person’s name, the address of the person, the phone number and troop number. If an ID is requested, the information must match the preprinted information on the check.
  • The customer whose name is printed on the check by the financial institution must be present.
  • No cash back. Checks should be presented for exact amount of purchase only.
  • We only accept personal or troop checks. We do not accept temporary or starter checks, two or three party checks, checks drawn on foreign banks, or payroll checks.
  • There is a $25.00 return check fee for insufficient funds.
  • By writing a check to us for payment, you authorize us to withdraw the full amount of the payment from your checking account by standard deposit of your check, or utilizing Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), if we choose. In the event a check is returned from the bank unpaid for any reason, and funds are available in your account, we reserve the right to Utilize Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) to withdraw the full amount of the check, plus our $25.00 fee, directly from your account.

Shipping Charges:

Shipping charges will be assessed on the total dollar amount of each order to be mailed to a customer. Walk-in orders or orders placed for pick up in any regional shop do not include shipping charges.

Our shipping and handling fees are as follows:
Under $25.00 = $4.00
$25.01 – 50.00 = $6.00
$50.01 - $75 = $8.00
$75.01 - $100.00 = $10.00
$100.01 - $150.00 = $12.00
Over $150.01 = $14.00
