100th Anniversary service opportunities
Girl Scouts throughout history have given back to their communities through service. In honor of our 100th anniversary, we encourage everyone to get involved with the three-tiered national service project called Girl Scouts Forever Green, or any of the many local service projects happening in our council.
What better gift to the Girl Scout Movement than measurable results, real proof that girls can, in fact, change the world?
As part of the national organization's centennial Year of the Girl celebration, Girl Scouts Forever Green invites girls to take action on one of three projects—Reduce Waste, Earth Hour, and Rain Gardens—that lead to sustainable behavior change and environmental impact. Girls also can take an online pledge stating their year-long commitment to Forever Green efforts—and then get their friends and families to pledge, too!
Girl Scouts also may earn our council's 100th anniversary service patch by either participating in FOUR service projects in 2012 – one of which MUST be a GSUSA Girl Scout Forever Green project – or by documenting 100 hours of service.
The patch will be available in 2012 for purchase through the council shops for $1.25 each. For information about the activities which qualify as part of the national Girl Scout Forever Green project, click on the month-by-month listing below (under February, March and April).

Green Forever & Treasure for Trees Service Project
Approximately 100 trees will be planted locally during our anniversary year through our Treasure for Trees service project. Girls collected 100 pennies each, so that each service unit would be able to secure a Fat Albert Blue Spruce tree that will stay forever green in their local areas. .
