Let's Move National Campaign

GIRL SCOUTS AND LET’S MOVE!

With more than 2.2 million girl members and almost 1 million volunteers in every community in America, and a century-long tradition of promoting healthy living among our members, Girl Scouts is ideally positioned to partner with First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move initiative to end childhood obesity within a generation.

Since its founding in 1912, Girl Scouts has promoted active, healthy lifestyles for girls. The Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) includes a coordinated series of activities designed to help girls discover themselves and their values, connect with others to solve problems, and take action to make the world a better place. Currently, there are three sets of “leadership journeys," each with age-appropriate, hands-on learning experiences that get girls moving and physically active in their communities.

Girl Scouts offers a diverse range of innovative sports, fitness and nutrition programming from high-adventure outdoor activities, to planting community gardens, to healthy cooking and nutrition programs. We’re also empowering girls to become the leaders of their generation who are carrying forth the First Lady’s message of healthy living to their peers, families and communities.
