Five Women Honored as Smart Cookies

Girl Scouts has been in the business of investing in Smart Cookies for nearly 100 years. On Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010, Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana recognized five exemplary leaders who, through their smarts and achievements, change the rules of the game, and in doing so make the world a better place.

Before an audience of more than 350 at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago, the following women received the council’s inaugural Smart Cookies Make A Difference Award:

  • Adela Cepeda, President of A.C. Advisory, Inc.
  • Alison L. Chung, President, TeamWerks
  • Sandra P. Guthman, Chair and CEO, Polk Bros. Foundation
  • Terry Savage, President, Terry Savage Productions, Ltd.
  • Jill Wine-Banks, Management Consultant, F & H Solutions Group and Operation Green Jobs

According to Maria Wynne, CEO of Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana, “Recognizing, and inspiring, great leaders is what we do. Girl Scouts encourages girls to follow their dream, take action on important issues, and revel in their emerging roles as leaders. We invest in girls’ futures.”
