Girl Scouts

Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana launched on July 1, 2008, after seven independent local councils merged as part of a national strategy focused on transforming the Girl Scout Experience. It is now the largest Girl Scout council in the country.

Guided by Girl Scouts of the USA's core business strategy plan, this council is reorganizing and refocusing its vast resources to build an infrastructure dedicated to providing compelling, contemporary, and relevant opportunities for today's girls.

This new council brings together vast resources that significantly expand opportunities for girls to gain the leadership skills they need to make the world a better place. Our nearly 94,000 girl members and 24,000 adult volunteers reside in 245 communities in six Illinois counties (Cook, DuPage, Grundy, Kankakee, Lake, and Will) and four Indiana counties (Jasper, Lake, Newton, and Porter).

Several local business offices, now referred to as regional service centers, offer community-based girl program activities, training, Girl Scout shops, and access to a variety of support services for volunteers.
