About Our Council

Girl Scouts

Girl Scouts of the USA provides the framework for the Girl Scout Program. However, local Girl Scout councils ensure that Girl Scouting becomes a personalized experience for every girl ages 5 – 17 who wishes to become a member.

Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana is one of more than 100 Girl Scout councils chartered by the Girl Scouts of the USA across the country. Each council is supported by the actions of many people, including a volunteer board of directors that governs the actions and decisions relevant to the local area, adult volunteers ages 18 and older who help facilitate the program, a professional staff with expertise in a broad spectrum of areas, and a diverse membership of girls ages 5 – 17 who reap the benefits.
