Two Young Women from our Council Receive Honors from The Corinne Jeannine Schillings Foundation

Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana announces that two young women from the council have received scholarships from the Corinne Jeannine Schillings Foundation to further their undergraduate studies. Since 2005, The Corinne Jeannine Schillings Foundation has supported undergraduate college women in the study of languages and learning of other cultures. The foundation was formed to honor the memory of Corinne Jeannine Schillings by providing a living legacy through education.

Katherine Palmer, from Munster, IN, received an Academic Scholarship. Palmer will be attending Butler University in the fall with a major in International Relations, and a minor in Spanish. Erin McGregor, from Downers Grove, IL, received a Travel Abroad Scholarship. McGregor is a junior at the University of Notre Dame, an Environmental Engineering major and will study at the University of Western Australia in the fall.

Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana proudly recognizes these outstanding young women for their leadership and accomplishments. The selection process was rigorous; there were 143 applicants from across the country. “The Council can be very proud of both of these young women. We are very confident that they will make the world a better place,” said Karen Schillings, founder of the Corinne Jeannine Schillings Foundation, and board member for Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana.

Current Girl Scouts from any region who are interested in applying for the scholarship should visit www.cjsfoundation.org for information and application deadlines. Only Silver and Gold Award recipients are eligible for these scholarships.
