On Wednesday, June 22, 2011; 1:15 – 2:15 p.m. CST, designated Twitter ambassadors from among the 25 enthusiastic teen Girl Scouts and the amazing CEOs/senior executive women participating in Camp CEO this week will share the insights they’re gaining related to leadership and careers.

The TweetChat will focus in on a very special “Dreaming Your Future” session live from Camp Butternut Springs in Indiana. Featured during the TweetChat will be six executive-level women who will share their stories about being leaders in fields as diverse as banking, medicine, technology, and utilities. Also featured will be the Girl Scouts of the USA National President Connie Lindsey.

This signature program is one example of the amazing leadership and career exploration opportunities geared just for teenage girls in Girl Scouting! Have a younger Girl Scout in mind who wants to know what’s in store for her in the future? Invite her to join the conversation on our TweetChat!

How to join the conversation:

First, create an account on www.twitter.com or use your existing account. It’s free, and it’s easy.

Log onto http://tweetchat.com/ and enter campceo in the space designated for the hashtag at the top of the page. Set the refresh frequency to 5 seconds or so, and it will automatically post the tweets coming from Camp CEO LIVE! We’re posting live now and throughout the day, although you will want to tune in on Wednesday during our special, designated TweetChat at 1:15 p.m. to see a flurry of activity and focused conversation.

OR you can also log onto our council Twitter page at http://twitter.com/GirlScoutsGCNWI and post using the #campceo hashtag, but you’ll have to refresh the page to see all the new postings as they pop up. Click on any posting with the #campceo hashtag to get all the Camp CEO-related posts on one page.

Be sure to post all your comments and questions during the TweetChat using the following hashtag: #campceo. The hashtag connects everyone’s posts into one feed on one topic at a coordinated time.

Be part of the conversation as girls react to what they hear from the adult participants, and post questions for the moderators. The Twitter ambassadors on site will select the best questions they receive to pose live, and then they will tweet back to everyone the answers.

We're honored to recognize the real-life success stories of girls who represent the characteristics and traits of World's Strongest Girl, including a local elementary school student for her courage and quick thinking during an emergency in her family's home last month.

According to www.triblocal.com, "Lemont 1st grader Abby B. this week was honored for her prompt response when her family’s dryer caught on fire. Abby, age 7, was presented with a 'Young Hero' award at the Lemont Fire District Station One Thursday night."

Two days prior to the fire in the family's dryer, Abby and her Girl Scout Daisy troop participated in a fire prevention workshop given by the Lemont Fire Protection District that encouraged girls to work with their families to agree on a fire prevention plan and meeting place nearby since most fires happen at home.

According to the article, "Abby followed the directions that she had learned two days earlier and was the first to head to the meeting place across the street on a neighbor’s porch. Abby stayed there while her parents got her three younger siblings out of the house."

When asked following the ceremony what to do when there is a fire in a house, Abby repeated what she had learned from the Lemont Fire District educators: “Get out and stay out.”

Congratulations, Abby, for being a World's Strongest Girl!

Voting will conclude on Thursday, Oct. 21, at 7 a.m. CST, so visit http://www.thefwa.com/submissions/girl-scouts to create a login and vote for our site.

So far, World's Strongest Girl is generating lots of positive comments such as, "I wanna be a Girl Scout! :) " and "Charming. Girl power in the perfect pitch."

According to www.thefwa.com, "Favourite Website Awards (FWA) was established in May 2000, to recognize the latest and best cutting edge creativity. FWA is an industry recognized award program and inspirational portal, based in England and is one of the World's leading website recognitions. FWA is widely recognized as the number 1 achievement for innovative web design through the Site Of The Year award."

The site also states that FWA was named the number 1 web award in the world, beating the likes of YouTube and the Webbys, in the Chicago Tribune's first World Wide Web Awards Award 2007, in which they "consider the scores of sites vying to become to Internet excellence what Oscar is to film excellence." FWA is the most visited website award program in the history of the internet, with over 75 million site visits as of January 2010 and an estimated additional 30 million per year.

By scouting the Web and evaluating nominated sites, using a well-established criteria and evaluation procedure, FWA selects and showcases future thinking, progressively designed sites who use cutting-edge technology, together with inspirational ideas, that lead the way for future generations.

We want to inspire the imaginations and self-esteem of girls everywhere! Spread the word about World's Strongest Girl and be sure to vote!

Welcome to our new Web site for Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana! Creatively envisioned and implemented by a talented team of professionals at Leo Burnett, our Web site is designed to help us foster stronger relationships with current and prospective girl members, families, adult volunteers, Girl Scout alumnae, and donors.

To create this interactive online community specifically for us, Leo Burnett’s team upgraded our site design to reflect the new national Girl Scout brand elements, including a refreshed logo and more playful design. These elements add a more contemporary look and feel to our online presence, especially as we head toward our 100th anniversary, a milestone Girl Scouting will celebrate in 2012.

Check out the navigation and cruise around the site to become more familiar with Girl Scouting in your community. We’ve streamlined and simplified our navigation and invite everyone to have a look around. Explore our newest program offerings. Learn more about the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. Sign up for adult enrichment trainings. Donate online.

Equally exciting is the launch of a new micro-site just for girls. WorldsStrongestGirl.org enables girls to write and share imaginative stories that bring the World’s Strongest Girl to life. Girls can design custom badge-looking widgets which can read their stories out loud. Girls also can share their stories with others. Just click on the World’s Strongest Girl icon to see the animation in action!
